The 8th Russian Petroleum Congress will take place on 22nd - 24th June alongside the Neftegaz 2010 exhibition (biannual) at the Expocentr in Moscow.

2009 Post Show Information

The MIOGE 2009 exhibition (biannual) and the congress were supported by the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Russian Federation, the Council of Federation of the Russian Federation, and the State Duma of the Russian Federation. 

RPGC is Russia’s leading international forum, and attracts leading figures from the oil and gas industry.  The Congress was attended by about 700 senior representatives of the domestic and international oil and gas industry; industrial ministries and departments; oil and gas associations; and financial institutions.  Thirty countries were represented at the event. 

The following topics were discussed at the Congress: Russia’s Oil & Gas Industry and the Global Energy Market:

  • New Challenges and New Opportunities;
  • Russia – a Reliable Energy Supplier; Government Policy in the Geological Exploration of Land Subsoil and the Continental Shelf of Russia;
  • International Strategic Alliances in the Development of Gas and Oil Fields; Russia’s Gas Strategy; Business Strategies of Oil and Gas Companies during the Financial Crisis;
  • Financial Support of Current Business Activities and Overcoming the Non-Payments Crisis;
  • Preserving the Oil Service Sector; Technologies for Developing, Drilling, Producing and Increasing Recoverable Oil; and Key Oil and Gas Transportation Projects. 

Gazprom was the partner for Gas Day and Rosneft for Oil Day.

For the first time in 2009, the congress programme included a number of special focus sessions such as:

  • Russia’s Oil & Gas Industry during a Period of Global Economic Changes: State Support, New Business Strategies, Investments (supported by the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation);
  • International Cooperation in the Caspian Basin Hydrocarbon Field Development. 

Also included for the first time in 2009 in the congress programme were technical sessions:

  • Oil Field Services and Drilling. Technologies for Developing, Drilling, Producing and Increasing Recoverable Oil (supported by the Russian Society of Oil and Gas Engineers);
  • Oil Refining and Petrochemicals in Russia: Opportunities and Goals (supported by VNIPI Oil);
  • Transportation of Oil and Oil Products.
